What privacy mode does
During the session, the monitor of the computer you are working on shows nothing of your work, and the mouse and keyboard attached to it do not respond. You see the desktop as usual in your viewer. Anyone walking past the machine does not.
Two things have to be true first
Privacy mode is deliberately narrow, because hiding a screen from the person in front of it is a serious thing to do.
- The connection was made with your own unattended access password. It is not available in a session someone approved with the one-time password.
- You switched on Privacy mode for my own unattended access on that computer beforehand.
Turning it on in a session
Open Session tools in the toolbar and choose Privacy mode. It always ends with the session, so the computer never stays blacked out after you disconnect.
Why it cannot be used on someone else
RFDesk is built around the person at the computer staying in charge. In a supported session they see everything you do, can take the mouse back and can disconnect. Privacy mode would remove all of that, so it exists only for the case where the person connecting is the computer's own owner, using a password they set at that computer.
A team can lock privacy mode on or off for its computers with a policy.
Good to know
- While privacy mode is on, a person at the computer cannot see or stop what is done, except by restarting it.
- It is for Windows computers. A phone that is being helped does not offer it.
- The computer still has to be switched on, signed in to Windows and unlocked for unattended access to work.
